3-Way Match

The 3-Way Match takes place every year between Plymouth, Goonhavern and Exeter dog training clubs.

This year it is taking place on Sunday 22nd March at the Scout Hut, Plympton.

Each club sends a team comprising:
  • two dogs at pre-beginners level
  • three at beginners
  • four at novice
  • one at "A dog"

The scores are totted up for each class according to placings, and the club with the most points at the end is the winner and claims the coveted trophy.

Exeter's 2009 team are:

Pre-beginner

  • Angela with her Rottweiler Sadie (Hassavant Clarissa)
  • Heather with her Spaniel Meg (The Mighty Pooch)

Beginner

  • Viv with her Golden Retriever Katie (Chillie Chime Chivers)
  • Margaret with her Golden Retriever Abbey (Star of Tynings)
  • Paul with his Australian Shepherd Fern (Moortime Forest Fern)

Novice

  • Jennie with her Belgian Shepherd Saffie (Olestark Morewyn)
  • Chris with her Old English Sheepdog Libby (Arlils Libertaine)
  • Jacky with her German Shepherd Ruby (Pixvonbrook Ruby Tuesday)
  • Ailsa with her Border Collie Lexie (Ivyburn Graceful Princess)

A

  • Margaret with her Australian Shepherd Bear (Chipalian Painted Lady)

If you are interested in competitive obedience or thinking of getting involved the 3-Way Match is an excellent introduction.  It is a great way to see how classes work and what is required of the handler and dog in a friendly environment.  We won't pretend that we're not competitive, but at the end of the day it is just a bit of fun and friendly rivalry!  If you would like to take part please speak to your trainer.

See our Annual Open Show page for more information about competitive obedience.

PS - It used to be a 5-way match but these days clubs find it hard to get a team together.  If anyone from other dog training clubs in Devon or Cornwall is reading this and thinks they might be able to get a team together, please contact us - it could be a 4-way, 5-way of even a 6-way match!
