Exeter Dog Training Club member qualifies for Crufts 2009 Obedience Championships

Exeter Dog Training Club member Margaret Warren and her GSD x collie "Cross Which Way" (Rosie) have won a qualifying ticket for the Obedience Championships at Crufts 2009.

 

They won the bitch ticket class at the Cwmbran Championship Show on Saturday 14th June, losing a total of only 7.5 points from the judge Roy Page (7 for heelwork and 0.5 for scent). Competing in the class of 34 entries, the pair beat the second placed bitch by 6.5 points.

 

Roy said "I cannot ever remember a team completing the first three exercises without fault, but that’s just what Margaret and Kia (Margaret's working name for Rosie) did today. They then proceeded to turn in the best heelwork round of the day – smart, honest handling of a lovely keen bitch, accurate and stylish but certainly not exaggerated in any way, with excellent pace definition (yes folks, she really did fast pace) – and then they topped it all off with an almost perfect scent discrimination to win with a lot to spare. A hugely enjoyable round to judge, especially as I had, to the best of my knowledge, never judged them before – a real breath of fresh air. Congratulations Margaret, it gave me great pleasure to award you this first Obedience Certificate. I understand that you don’t campaign Kia a great deal and it’s certainly not for me to say whether you should or should not. Nevertheless I wish you the very best of luck at those Shows which you do manage to get to. Hope she can give a similar performance for you at Crufts in 2009."

Margaret and Rosie will be competing against the other bitch ticket winners on Friday 6th March 2009 at Crufts for the Championship.  EDTC members are thrilled and send their congratulations to them both! This is Margaret's first ticket win at only her third time in the ticket ring.
