Exeter Dog Training Club
Press Release
22 May 2009
Good Dogs
More than 300 dog obedience enthusiasts will be at Cullompton Football Club on Sunday to compete in Exeter Dog Training Club’s annual Open Obedience Show.
Dogs from all over the South of England and beyond will compete in one or more of twelve classes, according to their experience and previous level of achievement. Handlers will demonstrate the level of control they have over their dogs, by performing a number of exercises. A the top level this includes a 10 minute stay with the handlers out of the dogs' sight. Judges will rate each dogs performance, with rosettes and trophies awarded to the winners of each class.
The show is made possible by the excellent facilities provided by Cullompton Rangers Football Club and the Cullompton Community Association, as well as the hard work of Exeter Dog Training Club members. This is the 6th consecutive year that the show has taken place at this venue. It helps to generate some much needed income for these local community organisations.
Several competitors are camping at Woodlands Farm, in the nearby Blackdown Hills. Some are making the most of the opportunity to enjoy the whole bank holiday weekend in Devon.
Barbara Tanton, Chairman of Exeter Dog Training Club said “We are pleased that our show is so well supported. A big thank you to everyone who has worked hard to make it a success".
