Rules & Regulations
 
  1. The Club shall be called "The Exeter Dog Training Club".
  2. The objects of the Club are to instruct members in the welfare and training of their dogs and to create goodwill amongst all dog owners.
  3. The membership of the Club shall be open to all interested in the welfare of dogs.
  4. The membership shall be such amount as agreed by members in General meeting and notified to the Kennel Club.

    Attendance Fees. Members shall pay a fee of £1 (Juniors 50p) per dog in each class.

    ALL FULLY PAID UP MEMBERS ARE COVERED AGAINST THIRD PARTY CLAIMS IN CONNECTION WITH ALL OR ANY OF THEIR DOGS WHILST ON THE PREMISES USED BY THE CLUB. THE INSURANCE POLICY MAY BE EXAMINED BY ARRANGEMENT WITH THE SECRETARY.
  5. The General Management and control of the Club shall be confided in the Chairperson, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and Five Committee Members. The Committee shall have the power to appoint Sub– Committees and trainers and to have co-opt members of the Club. The Chairperson shall have a casting vote in the event of a tie. The Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer are debarred from holding more than one office. The Chairperson should hold office for 3 years only after which he / she must stand down. The President, Vice President and Chairperson are all ex officio Members of all committees.
  6. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt members on to the Committee in the event of positions becoming vacant between General Meetings.
  7. Those co-opted shall only hold office until the next General Meeting of the Club at which an election of Officers and Committee takes place.
  8. No individual who has been a member for less than 6 months may be elected onto the Committee.
  9. The Committee shall meet at least once a quarter.
  10.   Any member of the Committee failing to attend 3 consecutive meetings without reasonable explanation shall forfeit their right to stand for nomination for re-election the following year.
  11.   At the Annual General Meeting; The Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary, and Assistant Treasurer may stand for re-election. The five Committee members will be appointed for two years and will retire annually as three in one and two in the alternate year. The President and Vice President are appointed for life or until such time as either indicates his desire to retire.
  12.   The quorum for a Committee meeting shall be six Members and at the General Meetings twelve shall form a quorum.
  13.   The Secretary shall summon and attend all Meetings and take minutes of the proceedings and shall keep books and papers of this Club and be prepared to present books and papers whenever requested by the Committee or at a special or General meeting and shall act under the control and direction of the Committee.
  14.   The Treasurer shall receive all moneys due to the Club and shall pay the debts of the Club as directed by the Committee. He / She shall keep accounts of all monies collected or expended by him / her on the Club’s behalf and render an account of such monies to the Committee, at a Special or a General Meeting as and when required.
  15.   All funds of the Club shall be deposited with the Bankers in the name of the Club.
  16.   The Society must make a list of members and their addresses available for inspection by members of the Society or by the Kennel Club.
  17.   The Accounts of the Club shall be certified annually to be carried out by one qualified Accountant or two unqualified individuals with accounting experience and presented to the Members at the Annual General Meeting.
  18.   The Annual Subscriptions are due on 1st April each year. No member whose subscription is unpaid is entitled to any of the privileges of Membership and if the Member shall fail to pay outstanding subscriptions by 1st June his / her name shall be automatically erased from the register.
  19.   The financial year of the Society shall be from 1st April to 31st March. The Annual General Meeting shall be held each year.
    (a:) Nature of Business to be conducted:—
    To receive the Report of the Committee and Balance Sheet of the Club presented for acceptance.
    To elect Officers and to discuss any Resolution duly placed on the Agenda of which prior notice has been given to the Hon Secretary.
    No business shall be transacted at the AGM unless notice thereof appears on the Agenda; with the exception of routine matters or those which in the opinion of the Chairman of the Meeting are urgent
    Notice of the meeting will be given in writing.
    (c) Twenty eight days notice will be given of such meeting.
    (d) Items for inclusion in the Agenda will be required by the Secretary fourteen days for inclusion on the agenda.
    (e) A copy of the Agenda wil be sent to every member seven days before the Annual General Meeting.
  20.   The Committee shall be invested with the power to refuse membership.
  21.   EXPULSION OF MEMBERS
    Any member who shall be suspended under kennel Club Rule A42j (4) and / or any member whose dog(s) is/are disqualified under Kennel Club Rule A42j(8) shall ipso facto cease to be a member of the Society for the duration of the suspension and/or disqualification

    If the conduct of the member shall, in the opinion of the Committee of the Society be injurious or likely to be injurious to the character or interests of the Society, the Committee of the Society may, at a meeting the notice convening which included as a object of the conduct of the Member, determine that a Special general meeting of the Society shall be called for the purpose of passing a resolution to expel him/her.

    Notice of the Special General meeting shall be sent to the accused member giving particulars of the complaint and advising the place, date and hour of the meeting that he/she may attend and offer an explanation If at the meeting a resolution to expel is passed by a two thirds majority of the Members present and voting, his/her name shall forthwith be erased from the list of Members, and he/she shall cease for all purposes to be a Member of the Society except that he/she may, within two calendar months from the date of such Meeting appeal to the Kennel Club upon and subject to such condition as the Kennel Club may impose.
  22.   At the request in writing of ten members the Secretary shall summon a Special General meeting for any special purpose. The nature of such purpose shall be stated in the request. Notice of the business to be transacted shall be sent to every member at least 7 days before the meeting and no other business other than stated in the notice shall be brought forward.
  23.   The Trainer appointed by the Committee in charge of any particular class has the necessary authority to maintain discipline and order.
  24.   Trainers and Assistant trainers shall be exempt from the payments of attendance fees on those occasions when they take a class.
  25.   The Club shall be affiliated to the Kennel Club and in all cases of dispute that body shall be the final arbitrator.
  26.   Puppies under four months of age shall only take part in any class at the trainers discretion.
  27.   No uninoculated dog shall attend the class at any time.
  28.   No dog suffering from any infectious or contagious disorder or appearing unwell shall attend the class.
  29.   No bitch whilst in season shall attend training classes.
  30.   The Rules of the Club may not be altered except at a General Meeting, the Agenda for which contains specific proposals to amend the Rules. Any proposed alteration to the Rules may not be brought into effect until the Kennel Club has been advised and approved the alteration.

    Regulations for the Registration and Maintenance of Title of Societies and Breed Councils and the Affiliation of Agriculture and Municipal Authorities to be forwarded to the Kennel Club.
  31.   The officers acknowledge that during the month of January each year, Maintenance of Title fee will be forwarded to the Kennel Club by the Secretary for continuance of Registration and that by 31 July each year other returns , as stipulated in the Kennel Club Regulations for the Registration and Maintenance of Title of Societies and Breed Councils and the Affiliation of Agriculture and Municipal Authorities to be forwarded to the Kennel Club.
  32.   The Society shall not join any Federation of Societies or Clubs.
  33.   No person whilst an undischarged bankrupt may serve on the Committee of or hold any other office or appointment within a Kennel Club Registered Society.
  34.   The Property of the Club shall be vested in the Committee. In the event of the Club ceasing to exist, a final general meeting shall be called to decide the disposal of the Club’s assets and the outcome of the meeting notified to the Kennel Club.
